WHO?
Hi.
I’m Butch Rosser, the man behind this little site. I have another personal blog but this is for the mashup scenesters only. More importantly, the who is all the DJs and fans of the scene who keep it going and give me content. Mmm…content. I like content the way Sylar likes hot, fresh brains.
WHAT?
This blog is meant to provide another microscope on the bastard pop/mashup scenes. Mashes themselves are explained for every newbie’s edification elsewhere on the site, or linking to somewhere that does, which is six of one, a dozen of another if you ask me.
WHERE?
I myself live in a suburb of San Diego, California, in the States. The DJs, like the scene, are truly international–LA to Australia and pretty much all points between.
WHEN?
24/7/366 [this year]. Gotta love the Interwebs.
WHY?
I became a fan in 2006 when I got turned onto Girl Talk right before Christmas. I kept finding out more stuff, which was just a big gateway drug to more stuff. Now I make mixes and am starting off on a DJ career of my own while I try to bring other chumps into the te–other believers into the flock.
I find a lot of current music boring, if not downright abhorrent, and think the mashups are a great palate-cleanser with the chances they take. Plus, when you listen to multiple songs at once you get all the feelings those songs usually bring up in you but with the mashup it’s forming a new memory baby out of the parentage of the old ones.
(Please let me know if that made any goddamn sense.)
