So I put the following question to you, the people: would you like to see me update the Muxtape more often to be in line with my current favorites and the Fixxx, keep things the way they are, or add a second account specifically for the Island in which to rotate the benchmarks of the first option?

So yeah, a good news bad news time here at the Isle.

Good: I got meself a half-terabyte portable external HD on the cheap, and immediately this weekend while I went to work and a couple parties after, sicced on on my inferior HD in order to extract my music and give it room to breathe.

Bad: I am now reconstituting my library from scratch; hence no Fixxx yesterday.

Good: Of course, this is merely another step in the evolution of DJ Brother Darkness, as I will now have enough room to keep a capellas, instrumentals, and music-modifying software.  Expect some tracks.

The tracks contain sodium benzoate.

(That’s bad.)

(They don’t really; that joke was merely to make Andy double over in laughter.)

So, I should probably throw in one last bone of good news, but it’s only applicable if you’re in the Southern California area or willing to come.

The PCD TCOB.  I love acronyms.  Almost as much as I love rare source material, which is what the out of exile Double J ha ha Jimmi Jammes provides by taking the propulsive guitar that fueled Homer Simpson’s favorite Bachman Turner Overdrive song and slapping the ubiquitous Don’t Cha on it.  A lot of people are on the bandwagon for his Kravitz mash with “When I Grow Up”; they can get their own blogs and spend 20 minutes a week churning out top 10 lists.  It’s hard work!

The hardest thing about mashups is taken stuff that’s very commonly used in the genre for source material and crafting your own unique work.  So it can be forgiven (he hopes) that when he saw Genie In A Bottle & Wonderwall, he was on a oh-here-we-go-again tip.   So wrong.  So very wrong, and proud to be so.  In the hands of ToToM Christina’s classic battle of mind vs. hormones gets stripped down to the basics.  Hopefully she’ll receive this as warmly as she did Freelance Hellraiser; she should, at any rate.
